The month of July is traditionally dedicated to the Most Precious Blood of Our Lord Jesus Christ. It is a good devotion for the summer months, when parish life naturally slows down a little and many families travel, rest, and catch their breath. The Precious Blood reminds us that the work of salvation was not accomplished vaguely or sentimentally, but by sacrifice. Our Lord poured out His Blood for us. Every grace, every forgiveness, every conversion, every good work in the Church comes from that price.
This July also brings us closer to the 250th anniversary of our country. Whatever difficulties and divisions we see around us, Catholics should be among the first to pray with gratitude and seriousness for our nation. We give thanks for the blessings we have received, and we ask God to purify, strengthen, and guide us. The Precious Blood of Christ is the true source of peace, mercy, and renewal. If our homes, our parish, and our country are to be made stronger, it will not be by slogans or complaints, but by faithful souls living close to Christ.
Since July is a quieter month in the parish, I also want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who helped make this past parish year possible: those who assisted with liturgies, music, servers, decorations, meals, socials, fundraisers, maintenance, office work, teaching, volunteering, and all the hidden acts of service that often go unnoticed. A parish does not thrive because one person does everything. It thrives when many people offer what they can, generously and faithfully, for the glory of God.
Together, we can do great things — not because we are impressive, but because God blesses sacrifice, unity, and perseverance.
Please also mark your calendars now for our Parish Picnic on Saturday, September 13. More details will come later, but I hope it will be a joyful opportunity for the whole parish to gather after the summer.
May Our Lady, who stood beneath the Cross as the Precious Blood was poured out, help us remain faithful to her Son.
