This upcoming week we will celebrate Thanksgiving. Please note that a special Mass schedule found on the subsequent pages of the bulletin. On behalf of the Oratory and parish staff, I wish each of you a very happy thanksgiving! Please know that I am grateful for each of you and pray for your daily. Please also pray for me.
Next Sunday is the First Sunday of Advent already. Please remember to bring your Advent Wreath to Mass if you would like it blessed. Immediately following Mass, please bring it to the Communion Rail. This will be the only way the priest will know if anyone has brought one!
Also, next Sunday will be the first Sunday of the transition at Old St. Mary’s from the Latin Novus Ordo Mass to the Traditional Latin Mass at 9:30 a.m. We have held various sessions and have addressed various topics in homilies over these past few months. There will be one final session in the classrooms following Mass to help prepare anyone who would like to learn more about how to attend the Traditional Mass. Classes will begin immediately following the 9:30 a.m. Mass and there are sessions for children, teens, and adults.
On the Feast of St. Andrew, November 30, there is the tradition to recite the St. Andrew Novena 15 times per day until Christmas. This novena is done for a particular request. I include the prayer at the end of my column today so that you can begin to commit this prayer to memory if you wish to pray for something through Christmas.
Over the next few weeks, with various holidays, the bulletin schedule gets earlier and earlier. Please keep this in mind when submitting bulletin requests. Also, the financial report may or may not be available depending on when the bulletin has to be submitted. Everything will be reported as soon as possible.
Lastly, we are looking for some men, young men, or boys who are able to serve our 1:00 p.m. English Mass at Old St. Mary’s. Duties would include serving Mass, setting up, and helping to clean up after Mass. Having this assistance will help us be able to continue to offer this Sunday English Mass at Old St. Mary’s. St. Andrew’s Christmas Novena
Hail and blessed be the hour and moment in which the Son of God was born Of the most pure Virgin Mary, at midnight, in Bethlehem, in the piercing cold. In that hour vouchsafe, I beseech Thee, O my God, to hear my prayer and grant my desires through the merits of Our Savior Jesus Christ, and of His blessed Mother. Amen.
