Presentation-of-the-LordJoin us for the annual celebration of Candlemas, the Presentation of the Lord in the Temple on Monday, February 2. A sung Latin Mass in the Ordinary Form will be offered at 7pm, preceded by the blessing of candles. We will have a special choir to provide polyphonic music, the Old St. Mary’s choir will provide the chants. We bless candles on this day because it was upon this day, when the Christ was presented in the temple, that the prophet Simeon declared that He ‘would be a light of revelation to the Gentiles and the glory of His people Israel.’ This Feast will officially conclude our Christmas celebration and prepare us for the beginning of the great Lenten Fast. Blessed Candles will be available for a donation following Mass.

A blessing of throats, on the eve of the Feast of St. Blaise, will occur following Mass. We will also bless throats on February 3, the Feast of St. Blaise, and again next weekend following Sunday Masses.
