Born in Florence in the year of Our Lord 1515, Saint Philip was a holy youth. Growing in virtue and ways of the Lord, Philip was known for his goodness and holiness, familiarly called the good Philip. He is known especially for his purity from a young age. He eventually set off to live with his Uncle outside of Rome near Monte Cassino (home to the famous Benedictine Monastery). Having dissatisfaction with the way his life was going, he set off for Rome without telling his family or taking any money with him. He would never leave Rome again, and became the third Apostle of Rome after Sts. Peter and Paul.
