Laudetur Jesus Christus! Gelobt sei Jesus Christus! Sia lodato Gesù Cristo! Praised be Jesus Christ!

Thank you to everyone who helped make this year’s Forty Hours such a success. Whether you stopped in for a Holy Hour, helped with Mass in anyway, helped with set-up, or with the social, thank you! This is always an important time for our Parish, especially as we pray for so many needs within our Parish, our families, our communities, our world, and our Church. Please allow the fervor of Forty Hours to continue. Perhaps you would consider adopting a regular Holy Hour on either Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, or First Friday. Also Adoration Group is always looking for regular Adorers on the other Fridays. We need to guarantee at least two per hour; but we will take as many as would like to sign up! Please visit: http://adoration.oldstmarys.org/ for more information!

On November 6, 36 other Pilgrims and I will depart for our Pilgrimage in the Footsteps of St. Philip Neri. We will begin our Pilgrimage in Florence, the city where St. Philip was born and spent the first eighteen years of his life. We will see the place where he was baptized, where he learned about the Faith, received the Sacraments, and truly was formed into the man who founded the Congregation of the Oratory we all so much love.

After Florence, we will follow with a stop in Assisi, the birthplace of St. Francis and St. Clare. We will stop also in Naples and Pompii, before going to Monte Cassisno, the Abbey founded by St. Benedict, for Sunday Mass. We will conclude our Pilgrimage in Rome. We will have Mass at the Vatican, at the Roman Oratory at the Altar where the body of St. Philip lies, at St. Girolamo della Carita where St. Philip lived following Ordination to the Priesthood, and at the Catacomb of San Sebastian, where St. Philip received the special indwelling of the Holy Spirit into his heart.

Please be sure to pray for us as we are on this Pilgrimage, and please know that we will take the intentions of our Parish with us to each Basilica, Shrine, and Church we visit. We will have a full update when we return!

To conclude, please find this brief news from the Schola. Have a blessed week ahead!

Schola Retreat – August 8 thru August 12, 2018
From August 8-12, 2018, the Oratory, Old St. Mary’s, and Sacred Heart will host a Sacred Music Retreat for scholas and choirs. The retreat will address the spirituality inherent in participating in a parish choir; the desire to seek the glory of God through music and to draw souls to Christ. The retreat, held at St. Anne’s Retreat Center in Melbourne KY, will culminate with Pontifical Masses on Saturday, at Old St. Mary’s, and Sunday, at Sacred Heart. In order to support this endeavor, fundraisers will be held at both Parishes to raise money to send the members of the Parish Choirs which will be attending this event. The retreat promises to provide profound spiritual and musical growth. Please consider contributing generously to the various fund-raisers that will occur periodically through the year.
