I would like to thank everyone who assisted in any way to help plan, set-up, work, and clean up from the Ordination. Thank you to everyone who helpd to provide food and drinks. I especially would like to thank Stephi Sieverding, Bill Diemler, Marge and Franz Wilke, the entire Wilke and Vosseberg Family, Caroline Hofmann, Mary Ann Lohre, Ron Rack, Rose Ann Miller, Erwin and JoAnn Dobler, the German Social Club, and Br. Brent and the Schola. I hope that I did not forget anyone, but thank you to all. Without everyone pulling together to help, we would not have been able to do what we were able to do. Thank You!
In terms of Fr. Adrian’s assignment, he has been assigned as a Parochial Vicar of Old St. Mary’s. While he will have some role here, his primary responsibility and ministry will be to the area hospitals and prisons. It is from this work that he will derive his salary. Fr. Adrian will visit with the sick and imprisoned, comfort the dying, and make emergency calls. He is looking forward to working in these areas and carrying out these corporal works of mercy. Please keep him in your prayers as he begins his priestly ministry. Officially, his assignment will begin on July 1.
This week we celebrate the great Feast of Pentecost, the day on which the Holy Spirit descended upon the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Apostles. This is the day in which the Church celebrates her birthday. Today, the Apostles who had previously been hiding in the Upper Room, were emboldened to go forth and do what Christ had asked of them. They zealously and without fear went forth, they began to preach, and thousands began to be baptized. The Church has not wavered in this mission in her two-thousand year existence. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, she has also faithfully continued to proclaim the Gospel, baptize billions, and continue to administer the Sacraments to God’s faithful. What began on that day some two-thousand years ago continues today.
God continues to give to people gifts that are needed in his Church. We each have some gift that has been entrusted to us, for the building up of the Kingdom on earth. May we, like the Apostles on Pentecost, also be willing to embrace the gifts that have been given to us. If we don’t accomplish the work that has been entrusted to us? Who will?
