Laudetur Jesus Christus! Gelobt sei Jesus Christus! Sia lodato Gesù Cristo! Praised be Jesus Christ!

I would like to thank all those who took time out to help undecorate our churches from Christmas. Your help was really invaluable and made everything go much smoother, thank you!!

I want to also thank everyone for their prayers as we conducted our search for our Office Manager position. This person will work to make more efficient our office operations and assist me with the care and stability of our two parishes. We had over 150 people send in a resume for this position. Many were well qualified, but we were unfortunately only able to hire one.

After combing through all the resumes and conducting interviews, I am pleased to announce that our new office manager started this past week. Mr. James O’Shaughnessy has accepted the position and began work on February 5 when he was introduced to the staff. Jim is a parishioner of St. Ann Parish in Grosbeck. He brings a strong background in finances, having worked at US Bank as Central Accounting Manager and Operations Manager in the lending department. He has also worked at Fifth Third Bank as a Global Funds Transfer Manager.

Jim brings many years of experience and also has a bachelor of arts degree in Business Management. He and his wife Beth live in Colerain Township. I welcome Jim to our parishes, and I ask you to welcome him as well! He will be making the rounds to various Masses and events to meet people and introduce himself.

It is important to note that the role of the pastor is divided into three essential roles. They can be summed up in these words: To teach, govern, and sanctify.

Regarding Jim, he will specifically be aiding me in the governance office, to free me up to also focus on teaching and sanctifying. Though our parishes are on the smaller side, all work is duplicated, and we have aging buildings. With more and more regulation, it becomes difficult to keep up to ensure everything is being done right. Jim will particularly be helpful in assisting me in these areas, in addition to managing our secretarial and maintenance staff. I will not be absent from this area, as this remains an integral part of my role as pastor. However, I do not need to personally oversee every detail as this has become very time consuming and not the best use of my time for you.

I look forward to working with Jim and for you to get to know him. We will be making some changes to make us work and operate more efficiently, professionally, and with better stewardship of our treasure.

The true treasure of the Church, however, are the souls entrusted to it. I hope that this new position will allow me to focus on the formation of our future priests in the seminarians of the Oratory, in building up and growing our parishes, giving me time to focus more on my homilies and teaching, and to devote more time for the salvation of souls.

Thank you to each of you for your commitment to our parishes. Please also ensure that you often look after your souls. Our parishes can only be truly successful when the souls of the parishioners are on their way to sanctity. Have a blessed week ahead!
