Laudetur Jesus Christus! Gelobt sei Jesus Christus!
Sia lodato Gesù Cristo! Praised be Jesus Christ!

I am happy to announce that the new parish secretary at Sacred Heart is Mrs. Jane Pitocco. Jane is a parishioner of Sacred Heart and sings in the choir at the 9:00 a.m. Mass. Jane’s background is in finance and tax preparation. She has been actively involved in volunteering at the Italian Dinner for many years. Jane retired from work a few years ago, is more than qualified, and will be a good fit for the office at Sacred Heart. Jane came highly recommended by Fr. Earl and Fr. Alex, so I am confident that this was the right decision. I welcome Jane to the staff, and I look forward to working with her.

Jane began working the week of February 4. She has been working with the staff at Old St. Mary’s and doing new employee orientation. The parish office will resume normal operating hours beginning next week. Please join me in welcoming Jane to the parish staff. Please remember her, and all of our clergy and staff, in your daily prayers!

I want to thank all of those who helped and advised me during the transition. Particularly to Mr. Rob Reid in the Archdiocese Human Resource Department and Msgr. Frank Lane for their invaluable advice through this whole process. I also want to thank Mr. Paul Gallagher, Ms. Christina Smith, and Mrs. Maria Sebralla who helped bring organization to the parish office. I also thank all of those who assisted with counting the Sunday Collection. Without the advice or the assistance of others, I would not have been able to hold things together. Thank you!

I also would like to thank all of those who took time out of their own busy schedules to help undecorate our churches. It was a team effort!

Just a reminder that this coming Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. This is a day of fast and abstinence. Please read the “Catechesis Question” on the next page for more information. Remember that all Fridays in Lent are obligatory days of abstinence, meaning no meat should be eaten. Other Fridays throughout the year are days of penance. Please also check the rest of the bulletin for Mass times.

Finally, please remember to donate or pledge to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. This appeal goes to support essential initiatives of the Archdiocese, like the seminary and our priest chaplains in our hospitals, jails, and on our campuses. In a particular way, this supports Fr. Adrian Hilton in his work at Christ Hospital. So please be generous in supporting the Archbishop’s initiative. He has been very generous with us, so please be generous with him! I am personally asking you to participate. Thank you in advance for your support! Have a blessed week ahead!
